We started with one belief: every child has limitless potential.

In 2005, our founders began teaching preschool children in the Khatib community — not because it was a business opportunity, but because they discovered an academic gap between preschool and primary school curriculum. They genuinely loved children and believed, without reservation, that every one of them was capable of more than the world expected.

What they observed over those early years troubled them. Quality education was increasingly out of reach for ordinary families. The best teaching was migrating toward premium centres with premium price tags. The children who needed the most support were the ones being left behind.

Youth Progress Singapore was their answer. Founded in 2013 and rooted in the Khatib community, YPS was built to prove that accessible and excellent are not opposites. More than a decade later, that founding belief has not changed. We still love children. We still believe in every one of them. And we still show up — every day — for the families in the community we serve in.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

YPS Values

Four values guide everything we do — how we teach, how we care, and how we show up for your child every day.

Discipline
Consistency is the foundation of growth. We hold high standards — for our mentors, our programmes, and ourselves — because your child deserves nothing less than our best, every single session.

Care
Every child at YPS is known by name — not as a student number, not as a grade. Our mentors remember birthdays, notice quiet days, and celebrate every small win. Care is not a programme feature. It is who we are.

Community
We are a heartland centre, built for heartland families. We believe that children who learn together, grow together — and that belonging to a community is one of the most powerful forces in a child's development.

Excellence
We believe every child can achieve at the highest level when given the right environment, the right support, and the right belief. Our teaching is deliberate, evidence-based, and always aligned to what your child actually needs.

OUR TEACHING FRAMEWORK - SEARCH

Everything we do — every session, every interaction, every mentor relationship — is built on SEARCH: the emotional and relational conditions that make learning possible. Our teaching methodology governs how learning happens. One enables the other.

Before a child can learn, they need to feel safe.

S
Strengths
We begin by understanding what each child is naturally good at - the foundation on which confidence is built.

E
Emotive Awareness
Our mentors are trained to read the emotional state of every child and respond before it becomes a barrier.

A
Attention
Focus is a skill, not a fixed trait. We build the conditions that help children develop sustained attention over time.

R
Relationships
Every child has a mentor who knows them — not just their grade, but their learning style, their worries, their wins.

H
Habits
Consistency compounds. We build the daily habits of showing up, attempting, and reflecting — from the first week.

C
Coping
We teach children how to handle difficulty — academic, emotional, and the pressure of examinations. A life skill.

SEARCH creates the conditions. Methodology creates the learning.
A child who feels known will attempt. A child who feels safe will discuss. A child who feels capable will master.

HOW WE TEACH

Our curriculum is designed to grow with your child — from K1 through P6. Each concept revisited, deepened, and connected to what came before.
Nothing is taught in isolation. Nothing is taught once.

Preschool · K1–K2

Hear. Trace. Read.

The YPS Methodology

Full methodology detail is available on each tuition subpage.

Phonics through song and rhythmic repetition. Structured writing from strokes to words. Systematic reading progression from sounds to sentences — so every child enters Primary 1 as a confident reader.

Johnston & Watson (2005) · National Reading Panel (2000) · Berninger (2012)

Lower Primary · P1–P3

Try. Discuss. Master.

Activate prior knowledge, bridging curiosity into discovery, learn through peer discussion, move on only when genuine mastery is achieved — not just a correct answer on the day.

Kapur, NIE Singapore (2016) · Alexander (2008) · Bloom / Hattie

Upper Primary · P4–P6

Try. Discuss. Master. - PSLE Ready.

Timed exam-condition attempts. Structured analysis of PSLE question types and marking criteria. Zero gaps entering the PSLE — so revision is confirmation, not catching up.

Mastery Learning · Metacognitive Awareness · PSLE Exam Technique

Future Ready

Every decision we make at YPS — bridging curiosity into discovery, building lessons around real peer discussion, not moving on until genuine mastery is achieved, developing the habits and coping skills that carry a child through difficulty — is a deliberate investment in the human capabilities that AI cannot replicate.

Preparing your child for the age of AI

The children in our classrooms today will graduate into a world where AI can answer almost any factual question in seconds. What it cannot do is think independently, regulate emotions, learn from human relationships, or sit with uncertainty long enough to discover something genuinely new.

We are not preparing children for today's examinations only. We are preparing them for a world we cannot yet fully imagine.
